Job Description:

Research Assistant Professor (RAP) position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 526131)

We now invite applications for the RAP post in Professor Lain-Jong (Lance) Li’s research lab, co-supervised by Professor Maohai Xie (Department of Physics, Faculty of Science).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct experimental research on low-dimensional materials using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) combined with molecular beam epitaxy (MBE);
  • Present and publish scientific results in peer-reviewed journals;
  • Teach the department-assigned courses on microelectronics;
  • Help on student supervision.

Requirements

  • a Ph.D. degree in condensed matter physics, and adequate postdoc working experience;
  • With teaching experiences on Physics-related courses.
  • strong experimental background in material science and condensed matter physics, experience in both 2D materials and 1D nanowires will be preferred;
  • an excellent command of written and spoken English;
  • good interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills;
  • experience on working with students.
